ABSTRACT

An introduction to the basic ideas of category theory from the ground up. The ideas of category, functor, and natural transformation will be explained with stress on elementary definitions and intuitive motivations, and some reference to mathematical examples. We will conclude with an introduction to categorical foundations including toposes and the category of categories.
