ABSTRACT

Big Data and applied data science are one of the most promising innovations that are going to revolutionize science and industry nowadays. Scientific applications aim to realize how the way that we live, communicate and work can be affected by means of these technologies. In other words, scalable and efficient data analysis and knowledge management supports internet of things, cyber physical systems, ambient assisted living, marketing, healthcare and workforce of tomorrow. Recent discussions and achievements in industry 4.0 and novel embedded systems as well as visual technologies double guarantees this as well. These technologies tend to produce large volumes of disparate data which demands proper processing and use. Today, the main problem is not how and where to store large volumes of data, but how to analyze it towards efficient value creation. During this presentation, I will provide an overview of my past and present projects and research works that data integration and analysis played a key role. The presentation covers partially my PhD work and most of other European and German funded projects/proposals. The key focus of these projects is on efficient use of big data analysis and value creation in real world applications such as human resource management, healthcare, industry 4.0 as well as smart cities.
