The Danish graph theory community (represented by Lars Døvling Andersen, Jørgen Bang-Jensen, Leif Kjær Jørgensen, Carsten Thomassen, Bjarne Toft, Preben Dahl Vestergaard) arranges a meeting GRAPH THEORY AT SANDBJERG MANOR, August 17-23, 2008. The meeting will focus on all aspects of graph theory. During the meeting we shall celebrate Carsten Thomassen’s 60th birthday (Aug. 22, 2008).

Sandbjerg Manor is situated in beautiful surroundings in South Jutland, close to the border between Germany and Denmark, close (~7 km) to the town of Sonderborg. There is a website for Sandbjerg with address www.sandbjerg.dk . A website with general touristinformation for South Jutland and the Sonderborg area is here and Sonderborg itself here. The area has a very rich history - there is a virtual history museum for the whole area between Hamburg and Odense, created by among others the University of Southern Denmark - but so far unfortunately only in Danish and German.

There is a small local airport with connections from and to Copenhagen ( by Cimber Air: www.cimber.dk), but Sonderborg also have train connections from Copenhagen and may be reached by train from Hamburg and from Aarhus. Find more information about these connections here (additions made on July 25).

For those needing cheap hotel accomodation in Copenhagen, one suggestion is (BB-hotel) and another (Hotel Rye).

Some participants arrive late in Copenhagen on the 17th and may have difficulties reaching Sonderborg. One idea is to break the trip into two at Odense (if you have a ticket all the way to Sonderborg, tell the conductor on the train that you wish to break the journey). At Odense a possibility for accomodation is Cabinn right next to the railwaystation (turn left when you get out and walk 50 meters). There are direct trains from the airport to Odense 20 min to the hour, the trip taking less than 2 hours. From Odense there are direct trains to Sonderborg, also taking approx. 2 hours.

Sunday Aug. 17 will be the recommended day of arrival, with the scientific program starting Monday morning Aug. 18. There is no dinner at Sandbjerg on Sunday 17, but sandwiches will be available through the evening.

The conference dinner will take place on Thursday August 21.
The meeting ends at lunchtime on Saturday Aug. 23.

The program will consist of main lectures in the mornings 9:00 - 12:00 on all six days (Monday-Saturday) and Friday afternoon. There will be shorter lectures in the afternoons 15:00-18:00 on Monday, Tuesday and Thursday and on Tuesday evening. A problem session is planned for Monday evening and the conference dinner for Thursday.  On Wednesday afternoon we plan an excursion to the Science Park Danfoss UniverseA final overview of the program is available (last update August 15, 2008)

Abstracts of talks are available (and updated along the way) - also a booklet in pdf format (3 MB) with all the abstracts is now available (Aug.13).  This booklet will be distributed in paper form to all participants upon arrival at Sandbjerg.

Sandbjerg has wireless internet in all buildings.

We are not able to provide funding, except for a small number of participants. We expect in general participants to cover their own travel expenses and the local expenses at Sandbjerg. The charge for room and full board is 130 EURO per day per person. In addition there will be an extra charge of 70 EURO for the whole period as conference fee (to cover conference-dinner/excursion/extras). The due amounts will be charged in cash at the meeting,  or preferably you may pay into  the bank account  of the meeting in advance.  Or you may visit a branch of  The Danish Bank  during your stay and pay directly into the account.

Information about how much we expect each participant to pay has been sent out by individual e-mails on July 26 and 27.  The bank account of the conference is in The Danish Bank (account holder Bjarne Toft, Christiansgade 55, DK-5000 Odense C, Denmark) with
SWIFT CODE: DABADKKK  and IBAN: DK3530003362584868 .

(The above should be enough, but here is some more info if needed:

the address of the bank is: Den Danske Bank, Flakhaven 1, DK-5100 Odense C, Denmark
the Danish registration number of the branch is 3574 ,
and the account number is the last 10 digits of the above IBAN number).

A   list of participants is available. It will in due time be provided with a list of e-mail addresses also.
