Home page for MM92, Maple, Fall
2004
This page will gradually contain more and more material related
to the Maple course.
Official
course description
http://www.maplesoft.com/
takes you to Maple's homepage
Time and place:
Lectures: Fridays 8:15 - 10
in U28 (start September 3)
Project assistance classes: Tuesdays
8:15 - 10, in IMADAs computer terminal room (both time and
place subject to change).
Textbooks:
One copy of Maple 9 -
Getting Started Guide (MGS) and one copy of
Maple 9 Learning Guide (MLG) can be found on the Semester
Loan Shelf in Matematisk Bibliotek. They can be used in the
library, but cannot be taken out of there.
For a while, my lectures will be more or less based on the above text MLG. In the first lecture,
I'll tell you how you can print MLGfrom
IMADA's Linux machines.
For a short while, here are the relevant Post Script files mlg.a5.ps (~ 80 sheets, in A5
format, printed on both sides). It is also available as a pdf file, mlg.a5.pdf
Various other material can also be found
there. Calculus - the
Maple Way can be recommended if you want to attack
(multivariable) calculus problems with Maple.
Maple:
Maple 9.5 is the newest version. A CD with Maple 9.5 is available
in the University Bookstore at the ridiculously low price of 25 Kr. It
can be installed under Windows or Linux.
In IMADA's computer terminal room, the Linux order to open Maple 9.5 is
like this (with > as the prompt):
> xmaple
In the Faculty computer rooms (Netcafe Øst, or U26a), Maple 9.5
is available on the Windows based computers.
What will be in the course?
If you read Danish, you can get more of an impression of the course on
the Maple home page, Fall
2003
It contains one or more Maple worksheets for each week of the course,
but they - I'm sorry to say - are mostly in Danish.
This year's editions will appear here in two formats:
- .mw format, Maple
worksheets, can be downloaded and executed with Maple 9.5 (or the older
Maple 9, I believe, but probably not by Maple 8 or Maple 7).
- .html format, can
be viewed with most internet browsers.
