It is the main purpose of  the school to contribute to the solution of the generation problem for Danish mathematics at the research level, i.e., to make sure that there be an adequate supply of well educated and dedicated researchers to take over when so very many of the current leaders retire over the next 5 - 10 years. 

At the official opening of the school, on January 1, 2003, it had 9 registered PhD students. The continued activity at - or somewhat above (see the list of current students) - such a level over the period 2003 - 2010 is made  possible by the current principal support.
