Lecture Monday (14.02.2014)

The third lecture will introduce the idea of mutual exclusion. On the modelling side, we will use shared objects to model mutual exclusion. Finally, in Java the use of synchronized methods and objects will be introduced.

Chapter 4

Study Groups

1) Read the book up to and including Chapter 6. Which concepts are easy to understand? Where do you have problems? Discuss in your groups.

2) Do Exercise 2.6 and discuss Exercise 3.3.

Exercises

1) Follow up on the problems encountered when discussion Chapters 4-6 of the book in your study group.

2) Do Exercises 2.2, 2.5, and 2.6.

3) Do Exercises 3.5 and 3.6.
