Academic Profile
I am a researcher trained in applied mathematics and computer science, with experience in interdisciplinary projects spanning health, defence, and cultural heritage. Although these projects concern different domains, they share a focus on concrete user and research needs. In particular, I work with people ranging from casual users to domain experts to understand their tasks, workflows, and constraints. Based on this understanding, I design and develop computational tools that support these tasks and workflows. I also work with researchers to establish the computational infrastructure required for their work. Together, this work provides a common thread across the diverse research interests and technical expertise outlined below.

- Spatial and movement data: Analysis and modeling of geospatial, mobility, and trajectory data.
- Document analysis and language technologies: Document image analysis; text-line detection; HTR/OCR; language-model-based post-correction.
- Applied data science and decision support: Data mining; AI and machine learning; mathematical modeling; nonlinear optimization; simulation of dynamical systems.
- Visualization, visual analytics, and interactive systems: Information visualization; visual storytelling; graphical interface design and evaluation; tools for exploratory analysis and decision support.
- Research software and data systems: Software architecture; cloud and distributed computing; containers and Kubernetes; data pipelines, storage systems, and databases; CI/CD; DevOps, MLOps, and DataOps; reproducible workflows.
- Human-centred and design-oriented research: Stakeholder collaboration; task and workflow analysis; requirements engineering; participatory and value-sensitive design; iterative design and evaluation of computational tools and systems.

Student Supervision
Since 2023, I have completed 36 student-project supervisions in data science across master’s theses (SPDS800), individual study projects (IADM801), and company projects (VPDS801). These completed supervisions are evenly divided between master’s theses and individual or company projects. The projects span academic and industry-facing data science, connecting research methods with real-world data, software systems, and stakeholder needs.
